During this season of bustle, busy shoppers and helpful storekeepers are all trying to accomplish one thing: delivering the holiday goods.

According to Liz Mugford, operator of the General Store of Minnetonka in Minnesota, two words make holiday shopping easy and successful: Frasier Fir.

“Frasier Fir has been the best-selling scent we’ve had,” she says. “We sell a ton of it. You can’t go wrong with Frasier Fir. Everyone just loves it.”

Liz likes to combine Frasier Fir with a seasonal splash of red, white or silver. “What I think is fun is to pair a Frasier Fir candle with faux evergreens, redwood bowls and trays filled with pinecones or mercury glass ornaments,” she says, describing the popular “vintage” silver ornaments.

Of course, certain customers only have a nose for their favorite scents—beyond Frasier Fir. “Especially Lavender and Goldleaf,” Liz says, “We sell a lot of them during the Christmas season for people who want to replenish” their supplies—or a loved one’s.

Home fragrance makes a thoughtful gift for a couple reasons. First, it gets used, then used up. So it doesn’t take up space year after year or demand ongoing polishing or attention.
